Als 12-jährige setzte ihr Cousin, ein angehender Pianist, Stephany Rickenbach auf seinen Schoss und brachte ihr den Flohwalzer am Klavier bei. Da dies im Handumdrehen klappte, erklärte er der Mutter, das Kind habe Talent und brauche sofort Musikunterricht. Nach vielen qualvollen Czernyetüden unter der Fuchtel eines hochbetagten Fräuleins und dem Verbot, irgendetws anderes zu spielen während dreier Jahre, kam die Erlösung: Cembalounterricht bei Susanne Baltensperger! Einige Jahre später erfolgte Violin- und Orgelunterricht und die Ausbildung zur Bewegungspädagogin, der eine dreijährige Unterrichtstätigkeit folgte. Nach einer langen, musik- und bewegungsfreien Kinderpause studierte Stephany Rickenbach Kirchenmusik C an der ZHdK und ein Semester B an der EKMS und absolvierte nebst zahlreichen Weiterbildungskursen, u.a. im Studio für Alte Musik an der ZHdK, ein CAS in Orchesterleitung ebenda. Daneben nahm sie viele Jahre Gesangsunterricht. Stephany Rickenbach ist als Wollishoferin nicht nur aktives Mitglied und Assistentin des KO Wollishofens, sie singt auch in verschiedenen Konzertchören und Vokalensembles. Sie war 20 Jahre lang Dirigentin des ref. Kirchenchors Buchs im Furttal und leitet den gemischten kath. Chor aegeri cantat. Für drei Jahre übernahm sie den Pop und Rock Frauenchor Rickenbach, leitete zwischen zwei Lockdowns ad interim den ref. Kirchenchor Schwyz-Brunnen und gründete 2024 die Buchser Singvögel.
When she was 12, her cousin, a budding pianist, sat Stephany Rickenbach on his lap and taught her the flea waltz on the piano. Since this worked in no time at all, he explained to the mother that the child had talent and needed music lessons immediately. After many agonizing Czerny etudes under the thumb of an elderly lady and the ban on playing anything else for three years, salvation came: harpsichord lessons with Susanne Baltensperger! A few years later, violin and organ lessons and training as a movement pedagogue followed, followed by three years of teaching. After a long, music-free and exercise-free childhood break, Stephany Rickenbach studied church music C at the ZHdK and a semester B at the EKMS and, in addition to numerous further education courses, e.g. in the Studio for Early Music at the ZHdK, completed a CAS in orchestra conducting at the same place. She also took singing lessons for many years. Stephany Rickenbach, as a resident of Wollishofen, is not only an active member and assistant of the KO Wollishofen, she also sings in various concert choirs and vocal ensembles and has been the conductor of the Buchs/ZH churchchoir for 20 years. She’s directing the mixed choir aegeri cantat and was the conductor of the pop an rock women’s choir Rickenbach. Between two lockdowns she conducted the churchchoir Schwyz-Brunnen and founded the Buchser Singvögel in 2024.
